Ireland's New Open Data Strategy 2023 - 2027
The Open Data Unit at the Department of Public Expenditure, NDP Delivery and Reform, published the new Open Data Strategy for 2023-2027 in November last year.
The new strategy was launched by DPENDR’s Minister Paschal Donohoe at the National Open Data Conference on the 23rd of November 2023.
A. Data Inventory Assessment and Data Catalogue for Teagasc - OGP Framework in Action
Teagasc manages a large amount of data. The organisation recognised that there is an opportunity to get a better understanding of the data they hold and establish a data management process, including data publication both internally and open to the public. Teagasc is leveraging the OGP (Office of Government Procurement) Framework for Technical Services for Open Data and Data Management to avail of Derilinx expert services in data management and publishing.
Ireland Ranked Second in the Portal Dimension of the Open Data Maturity Report 2023
The Open Data Maturity Report benchmarks the development of European countries in the field of open data. Ireland has been a trendsetter in this report for 7 years in a row. Although the country’s total score has dropped 2 percentage points (pp) this year, it still maintains an excellent score of 97% in the Portal category, ranking second in this dimension alongside Estonia, and only behind Poland.

Latest Open Data Portal Launched - Kildare County Council
Kildare County Council is one of the first Local Authorities in launching their own data portal. The project started with a Data Inventory Assessment to understand their data and identify Open Data that could be published on the newly developed portal – all through the OGP Technical Services Framework for Open Data and Data Management. Derilinx embarked on a collaborative Data Maturity Assessment journey with ETBI across the six identified functional areas across different ETBs.
